Setting up PTW on a Windows NT/98/95 server for workstations with NetBEUI/NetBIOS protocol

You have two options for installing and running PTW on a network:

1) Install PTW on each workstation and install the hardware key on a dedicated or non-dedicated file server which broadcasts the key throughout the network (preferable if you want each user to have his or her own set of Libraries);

(or)

2) Install PTW on a network drive and run it from each workstation using a shortcut to the network (preferable if you want everyone to use the same set of Libraries).

1) Plug the hardware key into the parallel port of the server. If the server is Windows NT, be sure to log on with Full Administrative Rights or the server won't allow you to perform the following actions.

2) Click the Start button, click the Run command, browse to the x:\Ptw32\Bin folder, click Open, and type:
3) Copy Nhsrvw32.exe to a folder you can easily remember--we recommend putting it in the Windows\System folder.

4) Click the Start button, click the Run command, browse to the folder you put Nhsrvw32.exe in, click Open, and type:
Note: If your workstations will run PTW from the network server, you only need to perform the following steps on the network server. If your workstations will have PTW installed and run locally, you need to repeat these steps on each workstation which has PTW installed.

5) The following step asks you to run the Monitor.exe program. This program has its own Setup.exe program which you must run to install it. You will find this Setup.exe program in the Monitor folder on the PTW cd-rom. If you do not have access to the PTW cd-rom, you may download its installation files from our download page--click on "Monitor program." Run the Monitor.exe program and double-click the netbios protocol. In the box to the right, if the message "nhsrvw32..." appears, the NetHasp License Manager (and thus the hardware key) was found; if the message "No active NetHASP LMs using this protocol" appears, the NetHasp License Manager (and thus the hardware key) was not found.

6) Open the Nethasp.ini file (located in the x:\Ptw32\Bin folder) and find the [NH_COMMON] Section.

7) Be sure to ONLY unremark the line indicated. All other lines should still have semicolons in front of them.
Un-remark (that is, delete the two semicolons in front of) the line
and delete the words or Disabled so that the line reads: 8) Save the NETHASP.INI file

9) Test whether PTW will run on the workstation. If it does not, check the Nethasp.ini file to ensure that only the line indicated has the semicolons removed, and that all the other lines still have semicolons in front of them.
