Network Install > Novell
Setting
up PTW on a Novell server for workstations with IPX protocol
You have two options for installing and running PTW on
a network:
1) Install PTW on each workstation and install the hardware
key on a dedicated or non-dedicated file server which broadcasts
the key throughout the network (preferable if you want each
user to have his or her own set of Libraries);
(or)
2) Install PTW on a network drive and run it from each workstation
using a shortcut to the network (preferable if you want everyone
to use the same set of Libraries).
If
you use option 2, you will need to copy these five TrueType
font files from the server and add them using the Control
Panel to every workstation: Pixextnb.ttf, Pixextn.ttf, Mtextra.ttf,
Mtsymbol.ttf, and Fences.ttf. (The first two are used for
load schedule reports and the last three are used by the
on-line Reference Manual.) You can't just copy the font
files to the \Fonts folder because Windows won't know they're
there.
1) Plug the hardware key into the parallel port of the server,
then log on with Full Administrative Rights.
2) Copy the HASPSERV.NLM file from the X:\PTW32\BIN to a folder
you can easily remember.
(Note: If you haven't installed PTW on the server,
you won't find the X:\PTW32\BIN folder because it won't
exist. To solve this, either install PTW so you can find
HASPSERV.NLM, or download HASPSERV.NLM and the other network-related
files from our download page--just
click on "Network Drivers and Files.")
3)
Browse to the folder you put HASPSERV.NLM in and type:
LOAD
HASPSERV.NLM IPXNOSAP
This
program broadcasts the key to the workstations; hence, it
must remain running anytime PTW will be used (the easiest
solution is to just leave it running at all times).
Note: If your workstations will run PTW from the
network server, you only need to perform the following steps
on the network server. If your workstations will have PTW
installed and run locally, you need to repeat these steps
on each workstation which has PTW installed.
4) Copy HASPADDR.DAT and NEWHADDR.DAT from the folder which
contains HASPSERV.NLM to the X:\PTW32\BIN folder. (HASPADDR.DAT
and NEWHADDR.DAT are created by the "load haspserv.nlm ipxnosap"
command we ran earlier.)
5) Open the NETHASP.INI file (located in the X:\PTW32\BIN
folder) and find the [NH_COMMON] Section.
Note:
Since NETHASP.INI is a text file, open it in a text
editor (NotePad, which comes with Windows, works best because
it does not insert extra characters into the file).
6)
Be sure to ONLY unremark the lines indicated.
All other lines should still have semicolons in front of them.
Un-remark (that is, delete the two semicolons in front
of) the line
;;NH_IPX
= Enabled or Disabled
and
delete the words or Disabled so that the line reads:
7)
Find the [NH_IPX] section and un-remark the line:
;;NH_USE_BROADCAST=Enabled
or Disabled
and
delete the words Enabled or so that the line reads:
NH_USE_BROADCAST=Disabled
8)
Save the NETHASP.INI file.
9) Test whether PTW will run on the workstation. If it does
not, check the NETHASP.INI file to ensure that only the lines
indicated have the semicolons removed, and that all the other
lines still have semicolons in front of them.
