If you are having a problem using
SKM software, please try to isolate the problem prior to
contacting Tech Support. Following are some steps you can
use to narrow the possibilities regarding whether the problem
is related to the software application, hardware malfunction
or configuration, memory allocation, corrupted files, etc...
1. To determine if you have a bad file: try running the
program using a different project. If the problem persists,
then it is not a problem with the project file. If the problem
no longer occurs, then your original project file may be
corrupt. If you believe that you have a corrupt project
file, please contact SKM; we may be able to help recover
it.
2. To determine if there is a problem with the software
application: try re-installing the software (program files)
in another subdirectory or location on your hard drive.
If the newly installed software runs correctly, then copy
your libraries and projects to the new subdirectory(s) and
delete the old copy. If the problem persists, then it is
probably not a problem with the software application.
3. To determine if you have a hardware problem: try re-installing
the software on another computer. Sometimes the system configuration
or unusual hardware components can prevent the software
from running properly. If the newly installed software runs
correctly, then there is some sort of hardware or configuration
incompatibility with the first computer.
4. Is your system locking up or crashing? If so, is it predictable,
always at the same point? Or is it random? If it is random,
you may have a hardware problem. Is your computer having
the same problem in other applications? If so, don't rule
out the possibility that there may be a virus on your system.
If the problem occurs only in the SKM application and is
predictable, then it's probably associated with the program
or your project file.
5. If you have a printing problem, does it occur with other
applications? Try printing something from another program;
if other programs can't print, then you may have a problem
with your computer or printer. If other programs can print,
go back to the SKM program and re-check the printer configuration.
Are you directing the output to the correct printer or port?
6. Is the problem repeatable? Also, does it occur only with
certain devices or studies? Try to discern what exactly
causes the problem and write down the steps. Be ready to
tell us those steps when you call for support.
